Hospitality Properties Trust is a real estate investment trust which invests in real estate used in hospitality industries. At Dec 31 2011, Co. owned 288 hotels with 42,632 rooms or suites, and 185 travel centers located in 44 states in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. At Dec 31 2011, Co.'s hotels were operated as, among others, Courtyard by Marriott®, Candlewood Suites®, Staybridge Suites®, Residence Inn by Marriott®, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts®, Hyatt Place®, InterContinental Hotels & Resorts®, and Marriott Hotels and Resorts®. 145 of Co.'s travel centers were operated under the TravelCenters of America® brand names and 40 were operated under the Petro Stopping Centers® brand name.
