Prospectus excerpt: Dividends on the MTP Shares will be payable monthly. The first dividend period for the MTP Shares will commence on the first date of original issuance of MTP Shares and end on July 31, 2011 and each subsequent dividend period will be a calendar month (or the portion thereof occurring prior to the redemption of such MTP Shares). Dividends will be paid on the first business day of the month next following a dividend period and upon redemption of the MTP Shares, except that dividends paid with respect to any dividend period consisting of the month of December in any year will be paid on the last business day of December. Except for the first dividend period, dividends with respect to any monthly dividend period will be declared and paid to holders of record of MTP Shares as their names shall appear on the registration books of the Fund at the close of business on the 15th day of such monthly dividend period (or if such day is not a business day, the next preceding business day). Dividends with respect to the first dividend period for the MTP Shares will be declared and paid to holders of record of such MTP Shares as their names appear on the registration books of the Fund at the close of business on July 28, 2011. Co. seeks to provide current income exempt from both regular federal and California state income taxes, and in the case of California AMT-Free Income (NKX) the alternative minimum tax applicable to individuals, by investing primarily in a portfolio of municipal obligations issued by state and local government authorities within the state of California or certain U.S. territories.
