The debentures are unsecured, subordinated debt instruments issued by Torchmark Corporation under a subordinated indenture. The debentures will bear interest at the rate of 6.125% per year, payable quarterly in arrears on March 15, June 15, September 15 and December 15 of each year, commencing on June 15, 2016. So long as no event of default with respect to the debentures has occurred and is continuing, we have the right, on one or more occasions, to defer the payment of interest on the debentures as described in this prospectus supplement for up to five consecutive years without giving rise to an event of default.
